Also People

Members of the people society (but may be robots, houses, aliens, space ships etc..)

Benny

Professor Bernice Surprise Summerfield, daughter, mother, cat owned, archaeologist, teacher, galactic hero, author, adventurer, connoisseur of fine alcohol (any thing in a bottle, can, glass or carafe), wife, divorcee, lover and professional cynic. The raison d’etre of this sub-site.

Brax

Irving Braxiatel, very rich, very mysterious, very devious and, possibly in love with Benny. Brax is a Time Lord (brother of the Doctor) and is not above using his special understanding of time to his own advantage. Brax collects things possibly including people.

Brax is also the abbreviation applied to the Braxiatel Collection, which in turn is both the asteroid formerly known as KS-159 and the private residence and museum sited on it. The asteroid has been terraformed to support human life and the Collection building has been modelled on the Palace of Versailles, complete with extensive gardens.

Although Brax is the home of Brax and is sited on Brax I can’t help feeling this could cause some confusion (probably why the fifth Doctor found his TARDIS taking him to pre-revolution Paris when he was trying to convey Erimem to the Collection)

Clarence

Benny’s guardian angel. Clarence was a People ship that went slightly mad and tried to kill God. When he was defeated God had him reshaped into the form of a rather good-looking human with wings, in short an angel. Presumably God found this amusing. Clarence accompanied Benny on several adventures before teaming up with her, Jason Kane and Chris Cwej to undertake a mission to defeat the old gods of Dellah. The mission was successful but Clarence gave his life to ensure this.

Cornell, Paul

All hail Paul Cornell, creator of benny, an accomplished writer having worked on such shows as Casualty, Doctors, Holby City (hmmm do I see a theme there?), Coronation Street (there goes that theory!) and the new series of Doctor Who (ah a proper show at last!!). A slightly better bio can be found on Wikipedia (I haven’t got an entry on Wikipedia, not fair!!)

Cwej, Chris

After leaving the company of the Doctor, Chris wandered around getting involved where he felt he was needed. Later when the war of the gods was brewing he signed up as a Time Lord agent and began the process that would turn him into a living weapon. At the climax of the war Chris was subjected to a bodily regeneration, which undid his transformation and restored him to health, unfortunately his tall, lean, sexy body was now a lot shorter and a lot plainer. He was instrumental in the final defeat of the gods, but hasn’t been seen since – he may have retired to a gym in an effort to restore something of his previous figure.

Doctor, the

Time Lord adventurer, Time’s Champion, reverser of polarities (particularly of neutron flows), Ka Faraq Gatri and devourer of jelly babies. Currently hanging around with Billie Piper.

Fifth Axis, the

A military organisation of rabid xenophobes, think Nazis, or even better think Daleks but without bonded polycarbide armour.

God

See  People, the.

Gods, old

In ancient times some other-dimensional aliens escaped into our universe and found that they were incredibly powerful here. They each emanated a sphere of influence that attracted followers. The more followers they gained, the more powerful they became, and the more powerful they were the more chance they had to overcome their rivals and become the supreme being in this universe. They were subdued and buried on Dellah.

When they woke up they took the form of the old gods of Dellah and the planet went mad…

Grell, the

The Grell are a race of tentacle faced aliens that are obsessed with collecting, collating and cataloguing facts. They are ruthless in their pursuit of information and wield the horribly effective dataxes which serve as both weapon and a tool for information retrieval.

Good Fact: Sophia, a Grell, is Peter’s Godmother.

Oh yes…all together now - ”For the glory of the Grell!”

Jones, Ms

She "runs" the Collection; it pays to keep on her good side. It is rumoured that even Brax would rather invite a a Sontaran and a Rutan to dinner than upset Ms Jones.

Joseph

Joseph is described as a small spherical robot that acts as Benny’s PA and diary. Think if you will a Palm Pilot with attitude. Joseph is limited in his abilities and was really only designed to act as a diary and scheduler, but Brax may have made certain modifications (like defensive weaponry) without informing Benny. The current Joseph is technically the second to accompany Benny, the first was an android porter that was assigned to her on Dellah, however it was later revealed that for at least some of this time that Joseph was actually a remote drone for God.

Kane, Jason

Jason is Benny’s ex. He is just your average guy, product of an unhappy (and abused) childhood, displaced in time and probably Benny’s perfect partner, which explains why she hates the sight of him, but ….

Jason has many strings to his bow, having worked as a gigolo to alien females, just for research you understand, an author (hence the research), space pilot, PA to a demon and has very good connections with the, ah, criminal fraternity. He would like to be a father to Peter, if only to win his way back into Benny’s life.

Oracle, the

Ancient construct capable of predicting futures. The Oracle was hidden on asteroid KS-159, which subsequently became the Braxiatel Collection. The Oracle is currently housing the personality of a ‘witch’ (defiantly not the Wiccan sort) who used crystals to enable her to exchange souls with other people. Whilst in possession of Benny’s body she seduced Adrian Wall, and considers Peter her son. Whether she planned this from the start, and what future plans she has, we wait to see.

People, the

The People are a confederation of various races and intelligences that live within a massive Dyson Sphere, which they have named the Worldsphere. Inside the Worldsphere the people live a largely hedonistic lifestyle surrounded by complex cybernetic constructs, which occasionally evolve and declare themselves as alive. In this way even houses and star ships are classed as People. Overseeing the affairs of the People is God, a massive self-aware computer system based on the smiley faced interior moon (Whynot) of the Worldspere .

God knows everything (he tends to bug conversations), God is everywhere (he can send drones out when he needs to have a physical presence), God is all powerful (he is the peak of People technology), God makes a very unusual dip, when invited to parties. God took a special interest in Bernice and even assigned her a guardian angel.

The People are a very powerful race; their space craft are extremely well armed and also alive. The People signed a non-aggression pact with the Time Lords of Gallifrey, but since the events on Dellah, this has now been rescinded.

Summerfield,

Peter Guy

Benny’s son. That is his father is Adrian Wall, so he is half Kiloran, and his mother was Benny, though at the time of the "act" Benny was not home, her body being possessed by the Crystal Witch whose personality is now locked within the form of the Oracle. And you thought you had a strange family!

Peter’s Godmother is Sophia, a Grell.

Summerfield, Isaac (Admiral)

Father to Bernice, Isaac was in command of an Earth military ship during a war with the Daleks. Records show him as a traitor who turned tail and fled from the battle, in reality his ship detected enemy activity and he diverted to successfully counter a Dalek plot that would have proved disastrous for the Earth fleet. Unfortunately Isaac’s ship was then plunged through a temporal warp and stranded in the 20th Century. Isaac and his crew have now dedicated themselves to secretly helping those aliens that get stranded on the Earth at that time. Helping to survive and if possible get home, not helping to invade that is.

TARDIS

Time Lord time/space vessel. More or less sentient ships capable of changing their exterior to blend in with the locale. Some appear to also be able to reconfigure themselves to replace rooms in existing buildings. Virtually indestructible.

Tarrant, Bev

Ex-criminal, smuggler, thief and tomb robber, Bev is very similar to Benny in many ways – just don’t say that in the earshot of a certain archaeologist.

Time Lords

Ruling elite of the planet Gallifrey. Live extended lives and capable of bodily regeneration when subjected to life threatening events or a change of actor.

Wall, Adrian

Adrian is a Kiloran, think dog like alien, no make that big dog like alien, Kilorans make excellent builders though their grasp of language is not the best. To make things easier for their human colleagues, they tend to adopt names taken from great historical figures. Adrian however seems to have misunderstood the history text, but as he would be mortified to learn the truth, no one has the heart to tell him. Adrian is Peter’s father and objects to Jason Kane’s attempts to use him to remain in Benny’s life. Adrian considers Benny his mate, even though the circumstances of Peter’s conception meant that she was not present at the time.

Wolsey

Wolsey is Benny’s cat. A slightly aging tabby, he once belonged to the Doctor and was presumably hiding in the TARDIS during the events of the Doctor Who: TV Movie. Wolsey has the run of the Collection and even Ms Jones has a soft spot for him.
