A meditation/relaxation exercise
Sit up comfortable but with back upright.
Close eyes.
Breathe deeply and slowly. Concentrate only on your breathing.
When you feel settled with you breathing, turn your attention to you toes and the souls of your feet.
Visualise the tension flowing out into the ground.
Feel them relax.
Once you feel they are fully relaxed move to you ankles and do the same, while keeping your feet relaxed too.
Keep doing this moving up and around your body.
Key places are: knees, thighs, genitals, bum, back/spine, tummy, chest, hands, forearms, elbows, shoulders, neck, head,
When you reach your head, feel the muscles in your face relax.
Feel the tension leave your head.
Now visualise a golden glow of healing energy behind your forehead.
Let this energy flow over your body and feel its warm and healing energies.
Let it envelope you totally.
Concentrate on feeling this energy as long as you can.
When you feel it is time, let the energy fade and open your eyes.
Stretch and flex your muscles slowly.
I have done this lying down but it feels a little different. You can play classical or ‘chill out’ music to help your mood. Natural sounds (waves, birdsong etc...) are also good, but nothing too racy.
Sometimes I fall asleep doing this others I just feel refreshed and relaxed.
